Just for clarification, since that came out of a different discussion
context, things like the DS and AS are applications in my terminology here.
Obviously the actual calls for service invocation can and probably would
wrap a lot of uses of those "applications" in the process of invoking
another.

I'm looking at it purely from a lower-level point of view.
